John Mramor
John E. Mramor was born in 1950, in a small forestry camp in British Columbia. He married the love of his life in 1972, and together they built a loving family that grew to include four children and nine grandchildren. In 1973, John began his career with the Vancouver Fire Department, where his dedication to helping others and commitment to public service earned him the respect of colleagues and the community alike. Over a distinguished 37-year career, he rose through the ranks and retired as a Battalion Chief in 2010 having received many honours including the Queen's Medal and several long-term service awards. In 2025, John passed away from AML, which had progressed from MDS, a job-related illness associated with his years of service as a firefighter. John will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his leadership and service to his community, and his infectious laughter and playful sense of humor. His warmth, kindness, and joking antics will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
