AIRCRAFT RESCUE FIREFIGHTER GEORGE YOUNG - HALIFAX INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY, NS
Aircraft Rescue Firefighter George Young died from a work-related illness on November 13, 2023. He joined the fire service in 2010.
George “Joey” or “Joe” was a proud member of the Halifax International Airport Fire Dept. His lifelong dream was to be a firefighter. Joey had a love for life that was contagious. He was a sports enthusiast, and open to any adventure that presented itself.
He was a volunteer for Sydney River and Hatchett Lake Fire Departments, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Canadian Blood Services.
He was compassionate to those he encountered who were less fortunate and was always there to lend a hand.
Joey loved his family, friends and his career as a firefighter. Husband, son, brother, uncle, mentor and true hero. His sense of humor, tenacity and courage will be missed.
