Story

Captain Michael “Mac” MacCormack dedicated more than 26 years of service to his community through the County of Brant (Paris) Fire Department, retiring in 2012, though he never truly left the fire service behind.

Passionate about firefighter training and mentorship, Mac continued to shape future generations through his work with ice and swift water rescue training, the Pre-Fire Service Program at Conestoga College and the County of Brant Training Committee.

Known for his unwavering commitment to ensuring firefighters had the skills, knowledge, and confidence to return home safely, Mac left a lasting impact on countless colleagues and recruits. Even in retirement, he remained an active and proud member of the firefighting community, attending events, marching in parades, and supporting the Paris Firefighters Club. Mac was a man who found his purpose and lived it fully.  He leaves behind a legacy of well-trained firefighters who will carry on the work forever.
