Wayne Bullock
Training Officer
Story
Wayne Bullock retired from Kingston Fire and Rescue as a Training Officer in 2015 with 29 years of full time service and over 13 years as a volunteer firefighter. Over 42 years in the fire service was no surprise as all of Wayne’s family, his father, mother, sister, brother and nieces and nephews were also members of the fire service, it was simply meant to be.
Wayne grew up in Joyceville just seconds from the firehall where he would begin volunteering at the age of 16, and he would remain in Joyceville for the rest of his life.
Wayne had a love for the fire service that was unmatched and he worked as a Training Officer to share his passion. His pragmatic approach was supported by his skills, a sharp sense of humour and throaty laugh.
The baseball diamond in Joyceville was a favourite of Wayne’s and he dedicated many cold winter nights to flooding the skating rink beside the firehall.
Wayne re-ignited a flame and found his forever love with his wife Jane, sharing life, love and laughs. A proud father to Jessica, James, Matthew and Kayla, Wayne found incredible joy in his promotion to grandfather as Mofie and Gramps to his treasured grandchildren.
Wayne was faced with the difficult diagnosis of glioblastoma, an occupational cancer, in 2021 which he battled with courage and hope. Wayne passed in 2022 and has left his family with treasured memories of happy times that provide comfort on difficult days.
