About The Foundation

Honouring The Fallen

The Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation is a registered, non-profit charitable corporation, governed by a Board of Directors composed of members of the Canadian Fire Service and other interested Canadians dedicated to honouring Canada’s fallen firefighters.

Many Canadian provinces, territories and municipalities have paid homage to firefighters who have died in the line of duty, but there has never been a national Canadian Firefighters Memorial. The Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation was incorporated in 2003 to meet this need.

The Canadian Firefighters Memorial is currently under construction in Ottawa on Wellington St. just west of Parliament Hill and close to the National War Museum. Construction begun in the spring of 2011 with a dedication ceremony planned for 2012. It will be a setting to honour firefighters of Canada who have died in the line of duty, and a place where their families and indeed all Canadians may spend a quiet moment remembering their heroism.

The three objectives of the Foundation:

  •  Conduct the Canadian Firefighters Annual Memorial Ceremony and provide financial assistance to the families of fallen firefighters to attend the Ceremony.

  •  Provide financial assistance to the children of fallen firefighters for educational purposes.

  • Build a national memorial honouring Canada's firefighters ultimate sacrifice.
