announcing cfff education program bursary awards
The Foundation is proud to announce the official establishment of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation Education Program as a result of the policy approval by the Board of Directors in November 2009.
- A bursary is a one-time monetary award. A bursary is available for any single year of undergraduate studies at a post-secondary institution.
- There will be only one bursary awarded to each person.
- Payment will be made directly to the student.
- Applicants are not eligible for a bursary if they are awarded a scholarship.
- Bursaries will be awarded based on the availability of funds.
- There will be a maximum of six (6) bursaries awarded annually.
- A bursary will be a maximum amount of $3000 or as otherwise determined by the Foundation.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a child of a firefighter whose line of duty death is recognized by the Foundation.
- The applicant must be accepted at or enrolled in a post-secondary institution of their choice.
- The applicant must have an academic average of 70% in their last year of secondary school or province of Quebec equivalent if a first year applicant, or a ‘B’ average or acceptable equivalent in the previous academic year if applying as an undergraduate.
- The applicant must be willing to provide their Social Insurance Number for tax purposes if a bursary is awarded.
There will be three bursaries of $3000.00 each awarded for the 2010/11 academic year. Applications will be accepted ONLY in the months of May and June 2010. Applications received outside this time frame will not be accepted.

The decision of the Foundation’s Selection Committee is final.
